Extended Warranty

RE: Extended Warranty
Hey, I am looking from the other side of the policy. My '99 Diesel (with 82,000 miles) has already had transmission issues. The dealership was happy to sell me an extended warranty 4 years ago, and I was thrilled to have it when she started acting up. Of course, I was totally new at the policy thing, so I paid too much for 4 years/40K of coverage. I am now shopping for a replacement for Western General's policy. Great Lakes has a great price and a good review, according to Auto Warranty Reviews Online.com. Unfortunately, I went hog-wild when I started researching, and have gotten way too many sales calls from "instant quote" websites. Beware of salesmen!

RE: Extended Warranty
Replaced my '92 300SL (139,000 mi) w/ 01 SL500 (32,000) that I purchased from the second owner. So, I'm the third owner. Origina buyers put 22K mi on the car the first 3 years of ownership traded it back to selling dealer in Scottsdale, AZ who made it a MBZ CPO. The lady I bought from also in Scottsdale, paid MBZ CPO pricing when she bought the car, put 10K on it in one year and decided to sell.
Believe it or don't, found it on ebay at $33K. Designo package w/ Xenon lights. Since I bought from her directly, I got transferred to me the 2 years remaining on the 3yr warranty she had purchased from MBZ ($3200) when she bought the car, but it was major systems only.
So, I got with warranty direct too, and argued them into a 7yr 100,000 mile total no deductible warranty for $2168 even though the original factory warranty had expired. So I'm good until 2012 and 100,000 miles or whichever comes first.
Big difference between the 92 and the 01, but one thing I know for sure, when something breaks in an SL -- it costs big time.
By the way, this is my 3d sl, first was 67 250SL
