Default dragging *** on my old 500sl

I have a 1985 500 sl rear camber is way bad. Would new rear coils fix this or will I have to shim the coils like my uncle suggested? The car rides fine and looks boss but I don't want to be throwing u-joints, bearings, and eating up tires either.

Sounds tempting, but those would have to be some epically bad *** shocks to actually raise the vehicle enough to plumb camber. If they do, would the ride not become log wagon? How would they be able to absorb shock and bear load simultaneously? Are they struts?
