Default Convertable Top Issues

I have an 1990 SL 300. The top only goes through half of the cycle in closing It goes half way up and stops. The lower half doesn't drop down and latch. Any ideas on what I could do to fix it?

Thanks.

do a forum search "top controller" there is a lot of information here. you can run a self diagnostic test through the top switch by shorting diagnostic ports 1 & 10 for about three to four seconds with the ignition switch lighting up the instrument cluster but not starting. count the flashes coming through the switch. the diagnostic port is just behind the passenger side strut mount on the firewall. you can do a continuity test all switches/sensors at the main wire connector on the controller. one series of tests with top up and another down.

Default Soft top problems

Sounds like mine! 96 SL320 72,000 miles. Removed hdtp for spring. Soft top went up in stages and that took several "stop and go" attempts. Had to press down on front areas to assit locking. Now top is up and locked in place. Afraid to try to lower. All other electrics working fine including roll bar. Used top w/o problems all last year. Thoughts? Many Thanks.
