What type of "scheduled" maintenence should I be prepared for if I decide to buy a 2004 Sl600 w/80K miles car looks to be in very good condition. just looking for someone w/ experience to advise. Gotta figure its expensive to do any work/maintenence.. will be lookin to find an old german guy to "go to" if I purchase... thx

a couple of times a year is what I am assuming depending on how often you drive the car

Is it the mileage factor, or just the sl600 in general ?

No matter what you hear from so called authorized or trained non dealer repair shops your best results will be from a dealer. An extended warranty from someone is a must and you need to be careful because there are many deceitful companies that will take your money and deliver nothing in return. Ask the dealer who they have the best results with. Don't buy the warranty from them just find out who the company is and buy it from them. Something as simple as a motor mount for this car can be over $1,000.00 to replace. There are specific lifting equipment needed and special tools required. Many times the technicians are contacting engineers in Germany to solve issues with new upgraded parts that may not work perfectly without their help. Shaky proposition going at this alone without warranty assistance. Also the warranty could cost upwards around 6 to 9 thousand dollars for 24K miles. Nice car but they are built to be owned by the well off.
