Can anyone identify this colour?
Dear all,
Wondering if anyone can identify this colour and the code.
Its a very pure blue metallic, without the hints of green that some have.
I've seen it on a 75 450SL and this 500SL is early 80's
Many thanks,
Paul

RE: Can anyone identify this colour?
Try to post the paint code or the chassis number. The paint code can be taken off a plate on the crossmember in front of the radiator.
It is the one with three numbers followed by a letter. Should be able to find a name from that if it is the original color.

Are you sure it's a MB factory color? I have seen it before on late '70 and early '80 BMWs and they called it "Electric Blue". In fact you could (up until 2003) order it on a Mini Cooper. Never seen it on a MB, but it looks very nice.

Thanks for the replies.
I'm not 100% its MB..but i've found 2 pix of SL's in this colour..this euro 500 and a US 450 on ebay.
Actually Ford even had a colour like this...which is disturbing I've since given up the search, i ain't risking ending up in a baby blue SL(!) and decided on Nautical Blue 929 for a classy, legitimate, yet 'not too old' look
