appliance battery
due to sickness my 2003 sl500 sat in garage for 2 months without starting.... when i started it, the code"appliance battery off line" which is not unusual for long periods of storage... so i but the trickle charger on and left it overnite, when i started it the same message was there so i drove it about 30 miles and the messge never turned off signalling to me that the 6 year old battery had given up... so i take it to local dealer and have new battery istalled...
POINTS TO NOTE 1)... the convertible top was raised ( open) i did not attempt to close it before taking it to dealer.
so i dont know what procedure the mechanic used to raise the top. as it would have been necessary to get to the battery.
45 minutes they bring car around, pretty day so i think ill put the top back down...
2) when i try raising top, i get message " close trunk separator"....
i discover the trunk release does not respond to the remote...
so i open trunk with manual key and the separator is in place but i reposition it to make sure..
try to raise top, get the same message.
3) discover the door locks nor the trunk respond to the fob.. but the car recognizes it and starts, the security system recognizes it.
so... this happened at the dealer... all that was done was replace the appliance battery.....so what went bad. ? did the technicial do something causing the problem with the locking and the top ...?? help me out here before i take it back for diagnosis.... glen

Hi Glen - Take a look at the link below (point #6) - it sounds like it may have something to do with the Synchronization.

thanks...im suspicious that is is a synch situation.. i was not impressed with the persons knowledge , and the fact they even rolled
the car out for me without testing the affected features was disappointing.... but further since whatever is wrong occurred while in thier
control... is disturbing. thanks again.
