I just bought a 2006 SL500 with the AMG Sports Package. Can anyone tell me what the horsepower rating is for this car?

 

it's listed as 302. Don't get any tickets!!

 

I got the impression somewhere that the standard SL500 has 302 horsepower and that with the AMG sports package the horsepower rating is higher.

 

AMG package and the actual AMG are difernt. AMG pacakge looks like an AMG but isnt. if you have an SL 500 it is not AMG if you have an SL55 then youve got an AMG. the AMGs in that year and depending on the car. is 470-493HP. for the V8.

 

Somehow I got it into my head that the AMG Sports Package Option included higher horsepower via the car's computer. Thanks to those who replied as now I know its got the standard SL500 horsepower rating.

 

if you had an AMG it will usually say it on the cluster and the engine and sometimes the seats. there are soo many cars out there that people put AMG on the back or will put E 500 rather than the real E 320 people always take off the badges and switch them to seem like they have the bigger engine or the AMG.
