In my insufficiently driven SL, the key refuses to come out, even with foot on the brake. Anyone solved this glitch? Battery was recently charged, and I know other computer chips, like the windows lose their memory and need to be corrected. Do you know what to do?

 

My 1996 requires that my foot be OFF the brake. It even says so next to the console mounted shift!!!

 

Hi Bayard... I don't have that particular placcard on the 99, and as I recall, the book specifys brake on to do most anything, as in move the shifter, remove key. For now I have found a solution, which was a shot of electrical points cleaner in the keyway. The problem seems to be tied in with locking of the steering wheel as well. I suspect gunk build up from not enough driving. It is clicking cleanly now, and removes well, and I am driving the car instead of my Touareg.
