hey, im new to this forum but i think i'll be an active user. anyways, this car is probably in need of a tune up at an MB dealer but i found that its been running pretty good until recently. i noticed that after i started the car up, the oil pressure gauge would slowly go down.. it soon hits "1" at about 15 minutes after driving. this is when the car starts to idle hard and i've even had it stall on me a couple of times when i tried to accelerate after a red light.. do you know what the problem is? it runs fine when the gauge is at 3 (highest). the economy is low and everything. but the gauge slowly goes down till it hits about "1' and by this time the economy is pretty high on the dial.

anyways, any help would be MUCH appreciated.

OIL PUMP?

 

oil pressure goes up and down with rpm you can have 1 bar of pressure and still be ok. sounds like you have a stalling problem. how many miles does your car have? from what you say it sound like it runs fine when cold and once you et it hot its starts to stall? just from experience start checking to fuel pump when it dies have sombody hit the fuel pump (locate under the right rear of the car) with a hammer if it starts to run at that point you need a fuel pump. mercedes fuel pump are (on the avarage) good for about 80 to 100k. if that dosent fix it and you cant hear or feel the fuel pump running(while somebody is cranking) then check the fuel pump relay its located behind the glove box inside the dash assembly. replaced both the fuel pump and fuel pump relay at the same time

 

its got 125K miles on it. i dont know if this is also the cause of the problem but the car's exhaust smells pretty badly. also, smoke comes out of the exhaust sometimes and when i floor the car, BLACK smoke starts coming out. the yellow light next to my gas gauge is lit up. what does this all mean?
