I'm new to this forum and at the very beginning of my education of the 450.

Just purchased my new project 1979 40SL. But before I begin on the body, i'd like to fix this annoying lock problem. Anyone have any troubleshoots? The keys do not work on any of the locks, the key enters the driver's side (but it doesn't turn). The tumbler for my ignition locks up sometimes and I have to sit for a couple of minutes finding the right part to get it to turn on. The trunk's lock is permanently popped open and does not lock at all. I've been looking on ebay to see if I can find a full change of locks. The doors may need adjusting and maybe the mechanism inside the door may need to get replaced, haven't looked yet. I'm waiting on my haynes for this car. But if anyone out there has tackled this already, your input is much appreciated.

I just purchased my first mercedes. 1983 380SL. I have a similar issue. The key works everything excluding the drivers side door. Once I being it to the mechanic hope to see if they can fix it or if I need to replace the lock?
