you got a very similar engine.
it's just the turbo and electronic side that differs much.
the point is that you can increase it more that it is now.

Have you talked to them (RennTech)? I'm just wondering because on their Website they say they can give you 186 hp for $44,500.
It says the package is for "1996 and on" which can't be entirely true, so I'm wondering if you've talked to them and know something that's not apparent on the Website. For example, the package is good only up to the 1999 model, or something like that.

Doesn't the 2001 sl600 have a DOHC 48valve V12 engine, instead of the SOHC 36 valve 5.5L V12.
AMG and Brabus both had its own version of the DOHC V12 engine.
AMG made it in to a 7.3L V12 and fitted in the SL-class in very limited numbers. The same engine was also used in Pagani Zonda. Zonda also use a SOHC 36 valve V12 now.
Brabus also bored the engine to 7.3L, and offered 2 versiosns, 73 and 73S
