Default 1996 sl500 stalls while driving and won’t start

I had a problem with it starting and when I do start it. It dies out the car only has 26k miles on it I took it to a mechanic and he replaced the crankshaft sensor and as I left the shop it dies out again. What could the problem be no check engine or nothing like that please help me!!

after checking vacuum hoses, distributor cap and rotor, I'd try replacing the k40 relay. it's in the module bx on the passenger side under the hood in the back of engine compartment. should have a red top. easy to replace

It looks like someone deleted my previous response to you...That may have been the issue, a generic scan tool may not give you specific MB codes. There are scan tools designed specifically for the Mercedes platform. I'm including a link below, let us know if you have any questions.
