1991 500sl misfire.... again
sorry guys, i could not track down my original post some weeks ago to which i had a few replies (eg "aam"). battery power running low on laptop and wanted to get the question out...
basically, a recurring misfire with a suitable amount of despair due to so many components having already been replaced over time. symptoms seem to go away when replacing rotors.
car is still with stealers who now have engaged an expert that used to work with them. he swears that after looking at my caps and rotors which stealers brought to him, that the 5 rotors that have already been put in the car were all rendered useless due to installer not installing an adaptor bracket that properly fits the rotors onto the cam shaft. in laymans terms, the rotors apparently had play and therefore started failing.
i did see some threads on adaptors but from what i read, either rotors will fit without the adaptors or they wont if they dont need the adaptors. what do you guys and gals say and are there some pointers, sites, pictures you can point me to on this ?
thanks, oliver
