1990 300 sl burbling and backfiring

1990 300 sl burbling and backfiring
for awhile now my sl has burbled when decelerating. the higher the compression the worse it gets and now will backfire too,especiallyin lowergears going downhill. otherwise it runs great.

ps: now she's running good again. go figure. I just love a problem that pops-up every six months or so then goes away for no reason.
