Hi just started working on mother In laws car to see if we can salvage after Sitting unused and untouched many years. Trying to manually push it into garage to work on.


Replaced battery in trunk, power comes on, and when the shifter moves to Neutral very easily. However the car seems to still be in park. I did confirm I released parking break.


any ideas, have not worked on MB yet

 

see if brakes are stuck to the rotor? are the bushings on shift linkage ok?

 

Thanks for the direction. Will try to get on jack stands today or tomorrow and check to see if linkage:bushings are intact. This makes the most sense in my head right now as the shifter seems very loose, but never have driven the car not sure what it normally feels like.

Will check brakes too. Thanks and will post back
