Any special things that should be looked at if considering a purchase of a '80 500SEL? I was told that they might have the special rear suspension. How do you know if it is good or bad? Any other areas to look out for?
Thanks

Check for leaking steering boxs. I have a 500SE and 560SE and both had leaking steering boxs.
They're not usually very rusty but give a good checking over, under the doors in particle, under the battery and if it has a sunroof, under the parcel shelf and around the boot.
