What do you say about a 2000 - S320!!!
Hello guys,
FirstlyI would like to apologize if I have posted this message in the wrong forum. Couldnt find anywhere else suitable to ask for all your views. Well im just planning to buy an S320 (always wanted too). I have put in an offer to the seller and He has accepted it. Just before collection, I would like to know what are the main things i need to know about the car, I have heard peoples stories on Cruise control, Electric seats, gear stuck, rust, but is there anything else i should look for before parting the cash. The car im looking at is a 2000 (August Manufactured) S320, No Sat Nav in it thou, but the rest is the normal, Cd players, Electric seats, Sunroof, etc. Its done 84000 Miles and has FSH - Dont know yet if its from MB or part MB.
Can Someone please tell me what potential problems I might be facing if i buy one and the things to check before taking ownership.
Best Regards
Maki

You need to search the site for potential problems. Too many potential ones to list.
Top (most expensive) issue is often Airmatic.
Electronics are tricky since digital. Some cars are OK, some not. Ensure ALL electrics work. if so you should be OK.
Check to ensure no codes are set in the engine / trans management system and that CEL Check Engine Light comes ON when ignition is turned ON then goes out.
MB FSH (Full Service History) is the most important indicator that the car has been treated well. 84k no problem. Just depends on your expectations.
Early Sat Nav is no loss. Not worth the effort! S320 very economical for such a large car. Amongst the best aerodynamics of any production car.

My Eclass 320 cdi suddenly loses all electric power with none of the instrumentation working,Command, windows and indicators are also not functioning
This does not seem to affect the running of the car and it continues to drive.
Sometimes this happens from cold and the key is not accepted by the ignition switch. After a few turns of the steering wheel it seems to reset itself.
Merc is a 2006 model
Ive been told that disconnecting the battery allows the electronics to reset themselves. Is this worthwhile?
