Default Weird gear problem?99 s320

Hi
I went to try a s320 for buying.
It is at 65000km said to be original km.
When i want to drive the gear was stuck at park.
Like you try to gear without pressing the brake pedal.
Later they said that an electronic thing caused first time!!!
And it was gone after electronic reset.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Usually due to the brake pedal switch being faulty.
65k is low mileage for a 99.
May be a great buy but be cautious.
Strange it went wrong went you tried the car!!

Can mileage be reduced at these cars?

A keen eye.
Records like car fax, dealer records, a "signed" document etc.
Yes. For instance you can fit a new speedo which says 0 miles....but dealers have the equipment to then make this new speedo read the old mileage so it can be set to anything you like. However this capability is also available at some rough traders AND of course the Internet!
In the UK the government keeps records at the annual safety check so by looking at these records you can get a feel if the readings look feasible.

Hi

The mileage looks ok but i read a post that says if any electrical problem occurs on these cars it will reappear again.can't really be repaired.
I witnessed those ill cars myself too.

In simple terms everything can be repaired with the exception of the body shell. (Rust)

Only problem is that the technology on this car is advanced and many people don't understand how it works....but to some extent this is the case for all modern cars which now use digital data highway rather than old fashioned wiring that most garage mechanics (and owners) understand.

Cost of repair can therefore be expensive BUT this is a great car and will keep going for a looooong time. Mine has done 110k miles with hardly a hitch (also 1999) plus 30 imperial mpg overall at UK motorway speeds!!

Attachment was blank.

City driving is a different matter. Big and heavy!! Stop. Start = ENERGY.
A diesel is best in traffic.
I don't use mine in town. I use a little CITY car.

Yes maybe a E200 Comp. will be better for mixed usage?
