Default W222 - Seeking Assurance

I've been researching the W222 for a while now. I have concluded that the 2018 S450 seems to be a very reliable model, especially without AMG or 4matic. Suits me just perfect - I am not looking for speed/power/sport. I am only looking for ultimate comfort and smooth driving.

If I get one with say under 70k miles, 1-2 owners max, and get it checked out, should I be fairly ok for longterm reliability? My plan is to do the usual when I get it - oil and filter, air filters, trans oil and filter (if its at 50k miles or more), check brakes and suspension etc.

I understand that its good practice to maintain the airmatic suspension by purging the air, replacing the compressor, and replacing the air filter at designated intervals. Do these jobs require the STAR/XENTRY system, or can a trusted, reliable mechanic comfortable with mercedes take care of these items without the computer?

If I am going in the wrong direction, please tell me. I know it needs premium fuel, and I know I MUST do the regular maintenance as prevention, unlike toyota and lexus which can pretty much survive on oil changes alone. I do not feel I am going in "blind". Knowing the little I do, I feel an extended warranty might be a waste of money - what say you?
