Reshad,
I'm having the same problem regarding Fwy driving and the "car too low" warning twice now. How expensive was the repair kit for your vehicle.

The repair kit was $900 total parts and labor for both left and right side...my dad's friend did itso I think (hope)I got a good deal. It is recommended that both sides be replaced. If your compressor is out/bad it will be another $950 or so. He only charged me $450 for thecompressor and no labor!!!

For you in the Upland, CA area,I just had my Compressor replaced for $546.84 (2001 S430 Sport), at Akbar Merc BZ & BMW Specialist, in Upland, CA. I was referred by a friend. Really down to earth individual. That included an airline upgrade as well. They are at 725 N Benson. Tel 909.981-0435. Thought I was going to be stuck with the MB Stealorship. WHEW!!!

Did you get the repair kit for the struts as well? If there's a leak, the new compressor will be working just as hard as the old one and wear out fast.

Wasn't a leak. My compressor/pump was on it's last leg. Cars fine now. When the rise switch is activated, the vehicle rises twice as fast as it did earlier. Good sign! The owner of the shop also stated that it's rare a leak is the culprit. He stated that 90 % of the time it's the pump.

In my experience compressors don't die.. they are killed. As was mentioned in previous posts, leaks and failures within other components of the suspension system typically cause the compressor to overwork itself and ultimately expire. My niece was having A LOT of problems with her 2000 S500. After taking a look at all the problems I decided that it was not worth the effort to repair or replace everything that needed to be, just to have it die again in the near future. I ended up installing a conversion kit from Strutmasters.com - we have installed a couple of their kits on other vehicles before and I have liked them quite a bit. They are easy to install (it only takes a half hour to an hour on average).. if you can do a simple brake job, you can install these kits. Anyways, we started recommending them whenever people came in with similar problems because they come with a lifetime warranty and our customers have said that the ride is nice and smooth. NOT what is typically expected from a coil spring conversion!!!

There is the link if anybody wanted to take a look at it. My niece is very happy and I feel a lot better knowing she is safe. We use Strutmasters because the quality of product. We have not had any of our customers return or even complain about the installations. I did however get a thank you letter from one elderly customer and he now stops in on once a month to bring the crew sausage biscuits and exchange pleasantries with everybody. He makes jokes about us not staying in business. He has given us plenty of referrals for business since the installation of the conversion and lets face it.. he drives a Mercedes. Something other than the suspension is bound to need repair sometime soon!! LOL Hope this helps anybody who reads it.. Good Luck everybody... keep your chin up!!
