Upgrading My '97 S420
Hello All,
I'm upgrading my '97 S420, that I picked-up in Jan '05 for 11K. BTW, I purchased it with 157K on the clock. Today, I have over 174K on the clock. Still tight, purrrrs like a kitten, and plenty of power. This thing is a beast! However, I have spent what seems to be a ton of money to get it that way. Anyway, I'm upgrading the sideview mirror covers. I need help changing out the mirror covers. The new ones have a flashing turn signal on them that I purchased from autoblz.com. "So how do I" take the guts out of the old covers and insert them into the new covers or housings? Your help is greatly appreciated. BTW, I'm keeping this puppy....until it falls apart. Trying for the million miles.

RE: Upgrading My '97 S420
Ok, Sleepwalker:
I checked the mirror housing, it is definitely one-piece. You've mentioned a long flat screwdriver to pry the lock. What does this lock look like? Do I release the spring? Should I take the assembly off the door inorder to do this work or leave it on? Which end of the mirror should I approach this lock with the screwdriver?
Thanks for your help and speedy responses.

i got no diagram to show you...but
first fold the mirror, then from the front (the open part where you can see the inside), pry that metal spring lock a little bit to the side and simply pull the cover off towards rear.
if you will look closely, you can easily identify it. it's just about an inch inside.
