I have a 2000 S430. My understanding is that the 2006 S430 is "essentially" the car. Does anyone know if I can take the car in to the dealer and have them download to the car's computer the newer features (e.g., seat retracts when you pull out the key, exterior mirrors fold down when you lock the doors with the remote, passenger side mirror tilts down to the curb when you go in reverse, etc, etc). I could bring it to MB and let them try, but I'm worried I could mess up what is already working. Anybody know anything?

Do you mean that since the "settings" menu on the 2000 does not include the option of the "comfort seat" position, that I cannot upgrade to it (or the other items I mentioned)?

 

you should be able to do the folding mirrors and and the mirror drop on parking and also the seats when you remove the key. all this is in the convenience settings in the cluster. just use steering wheel buttons to navigate. on the 2000 s class you might not have the ability to do the seat function maybe just the steering wheel moves up when you remove the key. and I dont believe you can do the mirror fold in. that came in 2002 i think. you wont be able to make your car do that cause the mirrors dont have the motors to fold in.

 

I don't know if its possible to upgrade the computer to make your car do a few more things but it should already do the passenger side mirror drop in reverse. Mine does. You have to push the button above the mirror adjust switch. That is you push the button to adjust the right side mirror and leave it pushed in. Then when you put the gearshift into reverse the mirror will drop down so you can see the ground behind the car.
