I have an 86' SEL. Do i have to buy special mercedes transmission fluid or can i buy certain kinds off the shelf to use in a pinch? (i have a slowleak; seal problem.) What would you recommend?

 

Only MBfluid is recommended and if you are looking for long term life in your car, youuse only MB. I did put in a bottle of Lucus with no adverse effect that I know of, and read on a forum that someone else did that too with favorable results.
