Time is nearing
The time is nearing for the 300 to be sold. The replacement by end of next year is probably will be a modern Euro.
The contenders (as far as Mercedes goes):
1995-1999 S-Class. (i know about the bidegradable thingy and aint afraid of it. I like the center arm rest in the 1995 better.
2000-2005 S-Class. Even the S600 since gas mileage between the 500 is not much and it's better than a 560 which I found to be not bad over all outside city. (I like the console set up of the 2000-2002 better, 2003-2005 looks like the screen just dont belongs. Yet at the same time the 2003-2005 upgrades do look better)
2000-2004 CL500/600. Like the front end definately. No kids no wife so I can do coupe.
1995-1999 SL I like them but the streering wheel in the 2000s iirc is a deal breaker. hate that steering wheel design and the new 2004- pumpkin seed shape is not of my flavor. Good performing car, but that shape is awful to me.
What I gather, the SL is a nice riding car for a sports car and would be something different for me. The W140 to me, have the best ride out of all of them over all and the double pane windows work wonders. The interior materials and even down to the sound of th door closing is some vault like luxury feeling materials you can find in the W220. W220, nice looking car, and have the air cooled seat option which makes it a contender. Also the W220 is a little newer and thus less affected by age and can find more under warrenty andm oreo n the market that is good shape than the W140s especially one with under 100 thousand miles on the clock. Right now, the perfect buy would be a 1998-1999 S500 Grand Edition or S600 with less than 75 on the clock unless a nie CL500/600 that aint been put on some goofy rims or goofy paint job comes along with service records.
Hell, maybe I'll just get a W116 and call it day. Yet, a car that is number one so far as far as price, ease to find, and what I'm looking for is one that might get me kicked off this site if I mention it but hey, the cat is hard to beat especially since I already have a W126 IMO the best Benz to have anyways.
