Throttle Actuator

Throttle Actuator
I have a 97 S320 and I have been having problems one after the other. My car has been losing power, jerking and also cutting off while I am driving. There is also a rotten egg smell after you run the car for a while. I was on my way to take it to the dealer to get a diagnostic when the car loss power and just cut off in the middle of the street. It started right back up and it took off. The Mercedes dealer isabout 30 minutes from my house, so I had the car towed. They dorve the car around for a while, but the car would not act up. Finally after a few hours they figured that the throttle actuator was going bad. They said it would be $1400 to fix it. I didn't have them do the work and I went and pick the car back up. It drove fine all the way back home. Anyway, does anybody know where I can get a throttle actuator from for a reasonable price? I have been looking on the internet and I have only found 1 for $875.[:@]

RE: Throttle Actuator
I'm wondering if they're sure that it's the Throttle Actuator? I'm not stating that it may not be, but I've not heard that the characteristics would be associated with rotten-egg, or sulfur smell (which sounds more like Catalytic Converters, or O2 Sensors, or Fuel Type to me). Though I've heard via this board that Throttle Actuators do go out, it's very rare that they do! However, replacing them, as I understand, does cost a pretty penny. So, it's really worth being absolutely sure before you just go looking for one, and that's if you can even find one. Let us know how you make out with this. Best to you.
