2000 E430 Throttle Actuator
recently I had the pleasure of getting stranded at the mountains while hiking with my gfriend. I drove out and parked the car at the base of the white tank mountains and when I came back and got in our car to leave the car would not start. After fumbling around and cranking the car for about 30 mins it finally started and I made an appt at the local dealership and left it there for diagnosing. Before I went to the dealer I read a forum in this website about the vehicle not cranking and it involved the CPS. Upon arrival at the dealership I told the service advisor about the problem and a possible solution. The shop ran the diagnostic and it came back as a bad CPS but also the throttle actuator was bad. He replaced the CPS and I have been driving the car since then without replacing the Throttle actuator because it is a $1600 option that I was not quite willing to pay for yet and my warranty did not want to pick up the tab on it but they did manage to pay for the CPS sensor. The car runs fine with the exception of an ocassional sluggish takeoff and every now and then it will hesitate or miss a beat while at a red light. Has anybody replaced a throttle actuator before on a e430? I heard that it might just be dirty and needs cleaning? I did go to a custom welding shop and had an air intake manufactured for it and after 1300 miles of driving nonstop from tx to arizona with it on I developed this problem. I am assuming that the air intake allowed to much dirt pass through and that caused the actuator to start failing. attached is the air filter assembly that was manufactured for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: 2000 E430 Throttle Actuator
vehicle not cranking
the throttle valve, need to reset the adaptation value after replacing or cleaning to remember the idle, full throttle and stop position.
try turning on the ignition for 20 minutes and no accessories on nor playing with the pedal.
the ecu might do self programming.

I have not cleaned anything. That is what I was asking if anybody had done this type of procedure yet and instructions on how to do it would be awesome. The dealership did replace the CPS and car starts fine now.
