Shocks and springs and wheel options for 1990 300SE?
We had the front end work done and the car drives nice and straight. I get clunks over bumps more on the left side front. I think the springs and shocks should be replaced. What do you guys and gals use for replacement shocks and springs for your cars? My car has 209,000 miles so I know the stock springs are toast.
I am starting to look at wheels and tires. The tire rack has some 17" wheels for ~$179 each. Can you also let me know what other year MB wheels will fit on my 300SE? Thanks for reading this! John C.
Here is a link to the wheels I am looking at for the car so far.

RE: Shocks and springs and wheel options for 1990 300SE?
I tried again but unable to directly post from tirerack. So the rim is the 17" 17" x 8" ASA ST4 on their site. Figured out how to upload their image. Two of the four rims stock are acceptable on his 300SE. But I would rather spend the loot for these rims and tires and get larger tires at the same time. I have bilstein shocks & struts on my Mustang. I have heard about the H&K springs but my knowledge is limited to the Eibach springs on my Mustang.

It was very nice today so I put on a coat of Liquid Glass and I did the leather seats. I put on Obenaufs leather conditioner by hand literally to work it in better. They came out great. It would have been nice if it was 10 dgrees warmer. I worked like a sled dog getting that Liquid Glass polish off of his car by hand. 25 years ago I used to use a polisher with that stuff working in a dealership. I am getting far too old for that work by hand. I just gotta scrounge a Cyclo polisher.. But after 5 hours of detailing the car for my Dad it looks really nice so that is all that matters. John
