My cousin went out of town, and my car is in the shop, so he gave me his keys to his 2001 S500 to drive for the week. About 2 days ago, i hopped in the car and drove about 3 miles from my house, and about halfway there the CEL came on while moving about 50mph, but there wasn't any immediate odd characteristics to the vehicle so i ignored it. After parking the vehicle and restarting, i have the floor the peddle for about 10 seconds before the RPM gauge even begins to move and from then on accelerates very slowly. once im out of 1st gear the car runs decent (not as good as it did before hand) but there isnt the massive acceleration problem in the other gears.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thnx!

 

ive had to replace the accelerator pedal position sensor on 3 or 4 diff s classes. its a sensor thats part of the whole pedal.

 

where is it located?? Is it right above the pedal or in the back of it???

 

the pedal itself included in assembly.

the wiring harness also needs replacement as of service measure.

 

no the harness dosent need to be replaced the sensor is actually part of the pedal. so go buy a accelerator pedal assembly they will know what you need. but before you do that have them pull the codes on your car that will tell you if your really need a pedal assembly. i hate throwing darts in the dark.
