Default S500 front-end problem?

2000 S500 64K miles- initially had problems with clunk and rattle in front end over minor rough roads; they replaced the struts and ball joints.
Then, 6 months later, I was driving and heard thumping from front (sounded like a flat tire, but when I stopped and turned engine off, it continued- I think it was the airmatic trying to "pump"
)- the engine was off and the key was out and the sound continued!
They ended up replacing a ball joint again.
Now, about 6 months later, The front end seems to bounce hard off small creases in the road
Not major bumps, but things like recessed sewer caps (1-2 inches); I feel a harsh bump in
the steering wheel and it seems like there is no cusioning of these sharp bumps, mostly on the
passenger side. I also noticed what seems like a flat spot in the tire but I had it balanced and checked at a tire shop and they said the tire was ok. (the "chop" noise in the tire speeds up and slows down as the car does).
I have brought it to two dealers who have said they can't find anything wrong
under there. Any Ideas? I am going to bring it in again and have the tech ride with me so they
can see firsthand while I am riding along.
Any ideas?
THanks!

i wish i can listen to that sound.

ask them to swap front to rear tires and see if the noise is still present.

check and tighten all the suspension bolts/screws.

check for cracks or bent on chassis.

A common problem on these cars are the nuts used for the lower control arm. They aren't hard enough for the application. The bolt is fine but after a while the nut loosens and begins to strip. The nut and bolt are no longer tight. Therefore, you have a "clunck" sound going over bumps. Parts houses offer a rebuild kit that will include the oil filled insulator. You will need a torch to heat the control arm to pull out the old insulator (rubber). Use caution, control arm under stress from coil spring. Be careful if you do this job.

Thanks.
