Dear vovpar,

The polarity would be red (+) and brown (-) right?, 12v operation required?
You are correct, Mercedes Always uses Red for(+) and brown for (-)

Funny you should ask. I took my 2000 S430 in today for regular service (A)and found I had a leak in the front struts. It cost $575 to replace the seals with the "kit". I assume if you can buy it yourself and install it would cost only a couple hundred.

Oh, and yes, I got the good ole "Stop, too low" warning light the day before while coming back from the airport. Apparently the lift motor timed out after running too long and it came dow. After pulling over for a bit, I restarted and went on my way with no issues.

Default RE: S500 Airmatic Problem

Several early versions 99-2002 S class has had problems with the front struts leaking at the top. This in cooperation with a bad compressor relay, makes the compressor burn out. Changing the compressor (AND relay) will not simply solve the problem in many cases. There is a non-return valve also located on top of each strut. Normal operating pressure of the system i 6-9 bars. If the pressure in the struts falls below 4-5 bars the non return valve shuts and prevents the car from goingdown onthe wheels.

So i conclude: if compressor stopped working, and the car falls all the way down onto the wheelsjust over a day or two, you also have a leak in the struts. Falling down on one side only means leak on one side only. Same with falling down on both side. Or your non return valves are not working both sides...

Its normal when leaving the car for a longer period (one week?) that the air leaks out of the struts. This is stated in the WIS.

Default 2006 S350 Airmatic problem

My 2006 S350 Warning msg went off right after I left the MB dealer that repaired a flat tire. The nose is lower. The dealer wants $140 to check the problem, and then will let me know if it is covered under the extended waranty. How much is there to check? A fail safe mechanism should have been designed into the system to prevent the car going any lower than normal ride height. I have a switch to raise the body, although I have never needed to do so.

the raise and lower switch is located in the upper control panel. it's together with rear blinds, anti-towing, etc.

the pump is located on the fron right bumper (concealed). you can listen to it or any hissing sound.

coding is what takes vovpar to dig deeper into his pocket now. it is programming the computer/control unit to recognize installed equipments in the car.
