RE: S500 Airmatic Problem
Dear Sleepwalker,
Please let me know;
1. How can i manually operate the pump even if there is a leak somewhere. How can i manually open a valve?
2. Is there any fuse for the pump? where? which one?
3. I have a x431 scanner, is helpful for anything?
4. Is there any air intake nozzle anywhere, so that I can put in external air compressor to raise the height of the ride?

RE: S500 Airmatic Problem
what year is your car. the earlier 220's had problems with the tops of the front struts leaking. there is an updated seal that needs to be installed. if the update has allready been done u can tell by looking at the tops of the strut. from the factory the have a black filling subtance that hardens and further seals the top of the strut. it is right where the air line goes into the top of the strut. if the black filling is gone and there is a dish like space under where the air line goes into the strut, the update has allready been done. they fixed the problem in the later 220's so the filling will be there and the update wont be needed. just a thought but still dont know the year of your vehicle

RE: S500 Airmatic Problem
1. if the pump is seized then you cant. if it's not, then there's a relay sitting on it. you can apply direct voltage.
2. yes. check your fuse designation sheet.
3. no it is not.
4. no. the only way is from the valve on top of the compressor or from the line on top of strut.
jack the car up and put rubber spacer on the suspension so you can drive.

RE: S500 Airmatic Problem
Dear Sleepwalker,
At this point, I need the electrical schematic of the car. Please let me where can I get or in case if you have it.
Anyway, can you tell me- which module controls the airmatic system? You mentioned on your earlier mail that I can manually run the pump by direct voltage- in that case, don't I have to open a valve olso? How?
Service centre for benz here locally sucks......I need assistance.

RE: S500 Airmatic Problem
Did you locate your pump yet??
If you did, then there are two wires connecting to it, Red and Brown i believe, it is one of the sockets. Unplug those, make some kind of connectors, plug them into the pump, and then apply voltage. NOTE*The pump takes a lot of power, so i would recommend using a battery charger or something of that kind
Good luck
