Default S in Bangkok

I live in Bangkok. Last year I bought a new 2005 280S. It came fairly loaded...phone, refrigerator, DVD, Parktronic. Due to its size it is fairly hard to park in BKK's parking spots.

How many cars do you have? You mentioned elsewhere that you have got a SL55.

In BKK we have a S and a SLK. In the USA we have a SL55AMG and a SL. And an old SE Coupe.

what do you think of the quality of the mercedes car? I have the ml and new slk and do not think much of it. the quality is not as great as it is perceived. i would like the r class but is not convinced of the brand. it is still better than the range rover though.

I have been lucky. My first MB was a 450SL (1977) and I kept it until I bought a 500SL (1992). Both cars served me well for all those years. I still have the 500SL but I needed a second car in the States so I bought a 2006 SL55AMG. In Bangkok I have 2 new MBs: a 280S and a SLK200. So far these three newer machines have performed well. Prior to 1977 I drove a Porsche 911.

I am probably not the best person to ask....as I have never owned one of the better Japanese cars...like Lexus.

In Thailand the Thais look down on Japanese cars....all of the prestige hotels use MBs and BMWs. Maybe it is snob appeal.

I have lived in Bangkok for six years but I am always amazed at BKK's traffic flow (or non-flow).

("Mirror, Mirror on the wall! Maybe I am just like my father, after all!"......except, in his case he stuck with Buicks and Oldsmobiles)
