Default S-500 Vs. 745Li

Im stuck between the two, I want a Benz because...well it's a Benz and that's that but I also want the BMW for 2 reasons:
1. Standard 350Hp
2. Massive appearance
And another part of me dosent want it because I have heard that the 7 has alot of electrical proplems and an extended warrenty is going to add another 5k to the price and Im not a big fan of the interior and I really do like the MB interior it's plush and inviting but it does has somewhat of an old man appearance (no offense but I am 21).
My sales man did not want me to buy the BMW, he said he would hate to see me go through all kinds of trouble with it he said the MB was more reliable and had a better resale value (the BMW was more than the Benz) im sure i'll be happy with which ever I choose Im just looking to make the best move. could you guys help me out and give me some Pro's and Con's???

Well I would say choose the Mercedes I am 20 and i like the old man appeal so in that respect i agree that the benz does have that. But since you are looking at a s-class and a 7-series i assume ur not to worried about major handling ablities either way. So go with the Benz. if you were looking into a c-class or 3-series i would have to say buy the 3 though.

And WTF is wrong with old men?

I think both of those cars look like old lady cars.

What years are we talking about, anyway?

Well "old men" these days seem to like large cars with 400-600HP under the hood that'll smoke any rice burner it comes across. I like the Mercedes style outside, inside, and performance such as sound, feel, and comfort. and not to to mention the engine is superb if you have the extra change laying around. With those years, the repair cost (when it come down to it) is about the same overall. Of course both of them are filled with gadgets to the point where it's more computer than car. Biggest complaint with the benz is that they are button crazy while the BMW one **** thing is down right annoying. It is just basically down to personal preference at this point. Either way you will choose a good car.

It sounds to me that there is an identity crisis, here. So, let me put your mind at ease, young buck. The mere fact that you're asking these questions tells me that you are a young man with taste, and a bit of class. So, here is my suggestion. Take whichever sets your mind at ease! However, consider the following: People who drive the MB, whether they know it or not, send a message. The message is..."I like the Creme de la Creme" that life has to offer. My mind is straight, my life is straight, I want to ride and look good...and know I look good. The emblem itself is intimidating. It says..."I ain't for no bulls***t, and if you are...step off! So, all the little troopies know from jump street, just what the deal is, and if they are for play, then they will not approach you, because they know you are serious in your dealing, while they bask in their worlds of confusion.

As for the BMW...well, personally, I don't like the new body style but that's me. I have both the '97 S420 (blacked-out of course, and the Silver '95 BMW 740iL...and it's always strong). As for you, if you want the BMW, the same story applies. It sends a message. And the message is: Yes, I like sport, but I like luxury sport, because I'm cool, and I'm clever. And again, I ain't got time for bulls***t, nor those who delve in it! Those who see this in you and in your ride will not approach you, because they have nothing to add to you! A message in itself. Trust me, the right one will see this in you and they or (more importantly...she) will see this in YOU!

So, if you don't like what I'm suggesting, go get you a Hyundai and call it a day!

i say dont get either now, just wait a bit and get the 07 s-class. it looks better than either of the cars at issue, and the interior is also better than both.

the 04-05 bmw looks better, but the mercedes feels better to me... in the end, i guess its really a personal thing, since both are fabulous cars.

Well, both reflect good taste but the benz will be cheaper in the long run to maintain and will hold its value better. The reason that BMW had to go to the maintenance plan which is included with the car is because they spent most of the nineties ripping people off for a service that Mercedes charged at least half for! I could never figure out what made our 740i more expensive to service than our S420 but it made for a nice comparison. BMW could never explain it either.
