S 430 and car lift
Does anyone have trick for getting a S430 (2001) up on a two post car lift when the lift arms are too long to reach the jacking pads? I know that if I had the wheel lifting attachments to fit my lift that would work, but I don't.
Thanks, Mark

If by adjustable you mean slide in and out....yes, but they won't slide in far enough to catch both jacking pads. Those pads are pretty close together. To change oil or do anything under the front end I put the lift arms under the front pads, raise the car up a little and then put 16" drive up ramps under the front wheels for security. My lift doesn't lock in at that low height. I would like to get the complete car in the air for oil changes and such.Mark

Whats your lift designed for? A Hummer / truck?
S Class is a full size car...what about compacts and those "dinky" thing we have over here in Euope?
I assume you are using the correct pads at the front and rear of the sill members.

I can put small cars (sub compacts) on the lift becaue they don't have the plastic shield covering the bottom of the car like the "S". With most other cars, regardless of size, it's just a matter of finding something solid underneath to get the jack ends under.
I guess theidea of putting wooden or metal beams across the jack's arms is a possibility, but I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable being under the car with that arrangement.
The lift is a standard size and the two main supports are not adjustable as they connected at the top by a cross piece. I think I will have to try to order two shorter arms to combine with two long ones.
