Default S 420 rotten egg smell

Hi,

My 99 S420 has the check engine light on, and the engine is misfiring, (badly). Could it be the 02 sensors? or the converter? Any way to tell which? I just had the trans replaced < 500 ago. Could the 2 be connected?

Thanks!

LugNut,

Thanks for the pointer.....I think this may be more than fuel formulation. The car seemed to be running on 5 of 8 cylinders when I dropped it off at the shop...

The misfiring and CEL are unrelated to the rotten egg smell.
