Default questions on a 560sel

i have a question on a 86' 560 SEL that im considering looking at. it's got 250,000 it has been well taken care of as far as i can tell. are they hard to maintain? is there a lot of general maintenance required? how durable is the 5.7l engine? anyway any input appreciated.

I have an 1987 420SEL. Almost the same thing. its a V8 its got 109,000 miles and it has been great. The only real problem is for some reson the AC Does not blow as cold as it should. As far as the motor its still running strong.

drive it and feel if there is any unusual behavior in a car, take an extra careful look at the rear suspension (self leveling) and check for leaks, this part is expensive, then check the fuel distributor for any signs of leak around itm its a beautiful and easy to maintain car, drive and rides quite smooth and powerful if properly maintained.

I've driven two to these cars over the last eight years, they are fantastic. The oldest 1989 has 234,000miles on it, and the other, same year has 197,000miles on it. They are fine cars and have run very well for me. Both have needed fuel pumps at about 180,000 miles and both have needed the transmission park washers/liners replaced (otherwise you have to start in N vs P, 20.00 item installed). Good luck, I hope you have enjoyed your car.

check the following: transmission for any irregularity, aircon control unit, air cell for bounce (located on the rear suspension), check fuel distributor if car is idling properly. this are the most basic and very expensive to repair, if these items are ok then its worth to purchase. its a very powerful and easy to maintain and durability is tested.
