Default Newbie and owner of a 420 SEL

Hey guys and gals, I have a few small questions that I am not sure about. A little about the car. It is a 1989 420 SEL with 134,000 miles when I bought it. It now has 136,000 mile in just 2 weeks. My question are as follows.

1. It is a little hard to start. I have replaced the plugs, wires, distrib, rotor button and I have cleaned the air intake and put in Seafoam injector cleaner. What else can I look for?

2. Once running it does really well. But when you come to a stop it has a small miss and had it alot worse before I replaced those items. Plus the idle is @500 rpms. What can I do to correct this problem?

3. I stopped by the MB dealer today and asked about headlight adjusters. They said they are not sold sep. He stated that I had to buy the complete headlight housing. Is this true. The reason why I am asking is I can not adjust the headlights. They both are aimed at the ground and it is really hard for me to see at night. Can anyone help me with where I can get the parts or what to do to fix it.

4. The front left side I have this squeak or a small knock sound when I hit the smallest bump. I have oiled all the bushing that I could find. What is making this noise. How do I fix it. This is the only noise the car makes. There are no rattles anywhere other then there.

Thanks everyone who has read this posting and are trying to help me with this. This is my 1st Benz in over 15 years, so I have lost that touch. I also have all the repair manuals for everything on this car that came from MB. Thanks again everyone for your help.

Default RE: Newbie and owner of a 420 SEL

I have a 1987 420SEL with 109,000 miles(currently stored away for the winter). Its been a great car only thing is the AC doesnt blow as cold as it should. But its in mint condition and I cant really tell you about any problems except for my passanger back window came off the track one day. Other then that it has been problem free. Also with a 420SEL I would stay away from the dealer if possible because they are older and the dealership charges way way to much. Try to find an Independant shop if you can.
