New brakes, New disc, still squek!!
2001 S55, new brakes from dealer $60, new disc rotors. Still one side is making a squeak! Driving me nuts. Is it possible these were the cheap ones at the dealer? Do they usually have different brands, grades? Some cheaper than others? Do these brakes usually have shims? My cousin ordered me this first pair and I saw them when he put them on. He probably ordered me the cheapest. I mean there is much worse noise before from the rotors and brakes, because the rotors were edgy and "liny". But one thing: We first changed the brakes, and then after I found out the noise is still there, we changed the rotors, so I am thinking maybe because we did that the noise will be there for good? I also used the de-squeak stuff on both sides and that worked for like a day and then it came back. But that noise is loud, if it wasn't I would have put up with it.
there are many different brake pads for the same car. Some of these brake pads have differen composition per say. The old ones had abestos (mispell) in them but was usually quieter operation but some of them faded. New ones dotn fade as much but some have more metal composition and some are noiser than others especially the first 50 miles. Some even comes with a relatively thin coating on the bake surface when new that sqeaks until it wears off after some good braking. The brakes made and found at the dealership for the w220 OEM is suppose to be quiet in operation but som dealership offer alt brands and so.
What pads was used prior? was they noisy too during pre-worn out stage?

Previous brakes were also mercedes and were %20 left. The new ones I noticed, also from dealer, had lots of shiny metal pieces within the brake pad. So,,,,I guess I might need to ask the dealer if they have better type.
