Locked in 4th gear, s320 cdi, 2008.
I have an s320 cdi, 2008, with 53000 kms on it.
The transmission locks in to 4th gear and does not shift out no matter what. Reverse gear, neutral work okay. But it only rides in the 4th. s and c modes are no help.
The local Merc guys reset everything whenever this happens and then the car rides fine for a few days.
What could be the problem- with the electronics or with the mechanical?
Please advice.

How will that get corrected- only by resetting it?
Does it mean that a board has to be changed or something else needs to be done electronically?
