Default Key not working in Driver side Door

Hi guys, my infrared key is not unlocking the Driver Side Door, what I mean is, when the key is physically inserted in the switch, it can't unlock the door nor lock it, but I can unlock the door using the infrared remote, I'm not sure if it needs to be programmed, when key is turned clocwise or counter clockwise, there are no action, has anyone encountered any symptom like this?

I had the same situation with the key also, until I flipped it over and it worked. It should work either way, but my didn't.

Sleepwalker, do you have a picture? also, I had to replace my battery last night, I successfully reprogramed all the windows and the radio, but one thing that puzzle me, the mechanic at Sears did a test on the new battery and it is OK, but during the load test for the alternator, their machine couldn't give me a clrear reading on the alternator, but a weird message 'Excessive Voltage Drop' during charge, I think it's the alternator, but could it be something else that will cause the Voltage drop? Please provide your input.

Thanks, Neil

what picture you need?

considering your battery is okay, the diodes on the alternator can cause voltage drop on a slight load.

out of 10 diodes, if 3 is burned out... you will loss a good charging current.

Yes, the alternator has gone bad and I just replaced it. Regarding the door, it was a part that came loose in the mechanism, I have no idea how it happened. I used my Dremel to fix it, I have to admit, i had to improvise, but now it is working.
Thanks for your help.
