Ipod
I have a 2004 S600. Beautiful ride! I bought the FM transmitter Icar unit, the sound is not good, muffled, and disturbances. Is there an efficient way to play an Ipod directly through the car? Does Ipod work with a blue tooth connection? can it play through the telephone bluetooth? Thanks!
I just had a similar experience with my 2005 S500. I was told I could not interface my iPod because there was no Auxiilary feature in the Command Center. A local MB electrical shop installed an iPod cable in the console. I'll have to control the iPod from the iPod itself, but it will play through the speakers. I have't picked up the car yet so I can't comment further. Project will cost about $475, ouch but worth it to me. I hope this helps you out a little.
The Ipod connection works great however there are two issues which may/may not bother you. First, as I mentioned, you have to control the Ipod from the Ipod itself, there is no display on the 'dash'. Second, there is a small rocker switch installed under the dash which disables the antennae. I have to set the FM tuner to 88.9 and throw that switch in order for everything to work properly. The Ipod charges on the cable and the sound is great. I don't mind the switch.
I use a cassette connectionon my 98 Ford Expedition. It works greattooand cost a lot less to implement.
I recommend that you find a good local radio shop and ask them for advice. I'm not sure who my local dealer used, but if you live in the Philadelphia area you might try H&R Radio located in Horsham, PA.
Good luck with your project.
