Default Ignition not recognizing key

Recently my 2008 E class has been having trouble recognizing the fob. It makes a hum when it reads the key and then I can turn the key and start the car. Sometimes it takes several insets for it to read. Sometimes it just goes on and then signs off before I can turn the key. I don’t think it’s the battery as the doors and trunk open properly and I have two different keys that are two different ages and it does it with both keys. It must be a sensor not reading my key, but I don’t know what part would need to be replaced. I have tried cleaning the sensors on both the key and the outer part of the ignition where you insert the key. Has anyone else had this problem?

yes the exact same thing is happening to me now! Mu battery is at end of life and sometimes would have to be jumped off to get it going. We've had the car 7.5 years it only has 92k miles on it. Pulled into the driveway to drain half s quart of oil out (partner thought he knew what he was doing) also had to take the drivers side rear taillight panel out it was shorting out and has singed part of the panel and I liquid electrical taped it off until further work can be done. The front parking lamps 2 right above main headlight are also bare wired and touching. The car actually was in electrical malfunctioning mode where things just stop working as you drive it. All accessories and options would take turns to quit working as u drive such as the command center. Would just close radio turn off and not work again unless u reset it by 10 sec hold on power or you physically stop turn off car take out the key and restart, the lights always stay on ndo matter what, heated seats, climate control, sunroof, power seats and even the remote key fob would all stop working by the time u got to your destination... it still ran beautifully though until like an idiot i had a plastic ramp under the middle front under where cross member and bottom of engine are located and i gently but still indeed let down the jack resting the front of car on ramp for mear seconds and back up it went and after moving the ramp out of way lowered back down and now guess what?? Car won't start... won't do anything, doesn't recognize key, no steering wheel unlock no nothing except the bright light indicator bulb will occasionally flash on the dash and it will lock unlock that is all... oh and the alarm constantly goes off that's all. Any suggestions on what or where to start. Bith jekeys not recognized and was running just minutes before?? At a loss here! Any luck on ur end?
