I have a 2007 S550. Frequently where i get out of the car - i can hear what sounds like water hitting a hot pipe and the sound of steam. They can find no leaks. I live in Florida so the ac is on all the time I have taken it to the dealership four times and the service manager even drove it for a week and no sound!
Any ideas?

 

i'm fairly new to the S class and I believe what you are hearing is the air suspension / compressor releasing air after you shut off the engine.

just my 2 cents.

 

This is a common action of all AIRMATIC S-Class Mercedes Benz cars, you can also hear what appears to sound like a trucks hydraulic brake hissing sound after short traffic light-to traffic light distances when warming up.

Thanks for the response, but it clearly is the sound of a fluid hitting a hot surface and evaporating. I mispoke when I discribed it as a hissing.
