Default Faults in new S500

I have recently taken delivery of a new S500 purchased in the UK and imported into Tanzania. On arrival from the port to my driveway it indicated about 19 miles of use. It has been on the road for about 2 months and now has something over 1,000 miles showing. It is a joy to drive and the force experienced during acceleration is all I had been longing for. My happiness would have been complete except that it came with two faults which, I believe, should have been immediately obvious during pre-shipment checks.

The first is the appearance of "Auxiliary Battery Malfunction" in white letters on the speedometer. I was informed that this would disappear after I had driven the car hard for a while. When it proved that this was not going to be the case I was told that it was a question of recalibration with a dealer owning a "Star Tester". Last night the message turned to red. Can anyone tell me how I can check to see if the car is in fit condition to be driven at least to the nearest distributor who is about an hours drive away in slow moving traffic?

The second fault is the failure of the rear driver's side passenger head rest to retract when the relevant button is pressed. The passenger side does retract (RHD car) as does the middle head rest.

Any help on these points would be dearly welcome and would immeasurably help to improve my driving experience.
