Default Fastest S600L / 600SEL

Ok, i was talking to a friend over the phone before... i was telling him about an incident i had with an 1991 model 600SEL i had..

I clocked it in @ 304kilometers per hour... GPS !!!

Garmin equipment, is it POSSIBLE that the GPS could be telling a lie...

note that it was on a 2-6% downhill grade...

What have you experienced in your cars ?

I have yet to calculate the differential ratios and gearbox ratios... but that thing was almost at the revlimiter...

those things are "suppose" to be electronically limited to 155 mph. But there have been reports of the early pre-93 600SELS and for that matter 1988-1990 BMW 750iLs (also V-12) being clocked at over 185 mph. So it's possible.

oh and since it's a 1991 600SEL that probably means it's a Euro version of the W140 that have more power than US version to begin with and during my trip to Euro, there was governor overiding shops all over the place. Not sure if they are suppose to do it or not but they was there. The ones I mentioned was US versions. In the states, the W140 didnt hit till 1992 MY and the 1991 W126 was only sold.
