I have a 2001 S430 and the EC light is on and I can't get it to go off. The A/C won't work because of this and I need to shut it off. Anyone have any ideas?

 

take it to the shop and have them clear the code and one of two things will happen either the light will stay out which is good or it will come back on with in a few mins which will mean you got money problems to the tune of $1900 if it's the compresser which is what happened to me. The code that I got was ETR Valve B1256. The ETR valve does cause the e/c light to come on so hopfully that's the problem (cheap easy fix)if not.....$$

 

I just got an 01 s430 and i dont know what the ec light does.
When i get in the car and heat it up for the morning i just turn that on hoping it helps heat the car.
What does it do?
