Default Disconect power to the rear brakes to change pads?

Hello,

I have an 05 S430.

I have never done the brakes or rotors myself on this car. When I ordered the parts online I kept getting a warning to becertain I used a star diagnosis tool to disconnect power to the rear brakes or there was a high probability of bodily injury. My replacement brakepads had a warning inside the box as well.

What gives? How doI change the pads and rotors on this car? Do I need to disconnect the battery to change them out? Do you guys turn your rotors? I was under the impression you never turn rotors on these cars?

Any help would be appreciated.

you may turn rotors for as long as it doesn't reach the minimum thickness.

just don't open any door or leave the ignition on while changing the pads.

Can I turn the drilled rotors too?

WHat about the issue of disconnecting power to the rear brakes? Should I disconnect the battery or just change everything like I would on a "normal" car?

Thanks.

The brake warning applies to the 2003-2006 E-Class, 2003 and newer SL-Class, CLS, and SLR. You do not have to disconnect the battery on your 2005 S-Class to repl the rear brakes.

Thanks Master BT.

Why in the world does MB still use that system? Looks like the only other model I can look at to buy is the CL.
