My 92 500 has a digital odometer, but I notice that some 92 500SELs have analog units. How is this possible?

Because a lot of early 140 chassis had the inst. cluster fail and were replaced with newer digital display type.

and also that analog can easily turn back the mileage.

I know GM and Ford use left-over parts here and there. I just wanted to know what the deal is with this car.
