Default blown struts / compressor

Hi guys i need some advice.
Last month i lowered my car 1 inch by changing the air ride height sensor arms and no problems the car drove smooth and then alast week after i turned the ignition off the compressor went crazy making a loud noise and the whole car was vibrating lasted for10 minutes.
The next time i drove everything was normal and the rise button was working, then a few days ago the fenders were nearly touching the tires and the rise button did not work and i changed the blown relay but compressor was not coming on.
So i drove it to the dealer and no warning messages were displayed in the cluster like saying stop car too low, the dealer told me i needed a new compressor and the struts were leaking.
If the struts were leaking the car should have been slammed so it would be impossible to drive and why was there no warning messages displayed.
So has anyone had this experience after lowering there cars or is it just wear and tear of a 7 year old car with 90k miles.

Default RE: blown struts / compressor

Happened on my 2000 S 500...I haven't lowered it but when the compressor when out I had the same symptoms...when I parked the car in the garage one day, there was a drilling noise after I turned the engine off...it lasted about 5-6 minutes then there was some knocking noise and then nothing but the smell of smoke.
Before that I apparently had a leak in one of my struts and the compressor was overworking. I DID get an error message only once while on the freeway but that was a month before it went out.

If your strut has a leak you can see it if you lift the hood up...left and/or right side...mine was pretty obvious but the car was never slammed on the ground and was driveable.

it is pretty common for the front struts on early s classes to blow out. but the can be repaired and after the repair they will not leaking from the tops of the struts again. as for the compressor, they do tend to go out after a period of time.
