Here is a link for the Becker of North America site. Very interesting info there for Mercedes owners including wiring diagrams. Also see the Becker Board on the site (don't have to be a member to post) to get excellent answers.

Default RE: Becker radio read E 2 ?????????????

I just purchased a 400sel and an receiving the E-2 code when I put in the code for the radio. I've checked both fuse panels in the trunk and under the hood and can't find an open circut. When e2 flashes the antenna comes up and after about 30 seconds goes back down and the radio shuts down.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Sleepwalker you seem to be the expert on this forum, Thank you.
I just purchased this 400 SEL and the radio, security system and infa red system don't work. Are they all connected. Is it possible I was given the wrong radio code?? I've checked everything I could, all the other systems seem to function properly.
Thank you.

Red face becker radio read e-2

I own a 1993 300E and have the same problem with the error message displaying and the radio shutting off after it displays it.
The problem is not in the r. r. fender amplifier but, at least in my case, it is a manifestation of outside or ambient air temperature dropping below the operating temperature range of the radios electronics. The problem goes away after the cabin warms up some and the radio is turned back on via the power button.
